ON November 27, 1973, one passenger boarded the first ever Margate Mini Coach which provided reliable transport between the Louis Botha Airport and the Margate Hotel. In May 1982, the coach was also used to transport staff to and from the Wild Coast Sun. Today the Margate Mini Coach, owned for some years by Marian de Deugd, comprises 15 bus trips a week to and from Durban. Extra buses are available in the busy months of December and January or when needed. Margate Mini Coach links up with the Translux and Greyhound bus services, trains to and from Johannesburg and Cape Town and domestic and international flights daily.
The popular flutterbus to the Wild Coast Sun offers passengers an excellent package which includes the return bus fare of R30. For a lay-out of R50, one gets back R80 in tokens, a R15 meal voucher and free entrance, in addition to the transport. Pre-pickups can be arranged at an extra charge. The Margate Mini Coach transports conference groups, charters and individual groups to the Uvongo Bird Park, the Riverbend Crocodile Farm, Oribi Gorge, the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve and on shopping outings. The mini coach will take you anywhere in South Africa and does special trips to the Playhouse, ice shows , the Pietermaritzburg Royal Show, rugby, cricket matches and the Pavilion. To ensure absolute passenger safety, Margate Mini Coach has the necessary passenger service liability to transport the public.
